Before the Adoption
All prospective adoptive families are interviewed before being allowed to adopt a cat or dog into their home. Questions are asked of the family to determine what type of animal, personality, characteristics, etc. they are interested in.

Animals are provided with necessary veterinary care from the time they arrive in KAR. All animals are checked for fleas and ear mites and treated appropriately. All animals receive immunizations as required. All animals are given general dewormer medicine. Cats and kittens are checked for feline leukemia, and dogs and puppies of appropriate age are checked for heartworm and treated accordingly. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED/NEUTERED PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
At the Time of the Adoption
An adoption form is completed which indicates the dates/type of vet care we have provided to the animal and also spells out your commitments as an adopter. A fee is collected:
| Kittens under 6 months | $100 |
| Cats 6 months and older | $50 |
| Puppies under 6 months | $225 |
| Older Puppies and Adult Dogs under 5 years | $195 |
| Adult Dogs 5 years and older | $150 |
After the Adoption
A follow up call to see how everyone is getting along and to see if the new family has any questions.
