This feature celebrates our successes by showing you foster animals that went from rags to riches, from hell to heaven, from a certain death to being a cherished member of a family. These are all photographs that adopters have sent us. |

Mia was adopted in Sept. of 2003 just because her new family adored her when they saw her. They had other cats and weren't really looking for one, but she captured their hearts. She's grown now, but her new family still drops us a line from time to time. She has been a source of inspiration and healing for them through both good times and bad. Known to KAR as Bon-bon, to her family, she is Mia. Here is a kitten picture of her. Planning her next escapade no doubt. :)

At six weeks old, Jesse (below) was scheduled to be euthanized for no reason other than the fact that he wasn't wanted. The vet called us and we took him into the Rescue. His adopter recently wrote us and said "I can't imagine my life without him now. It's amazing how we become so attached so fast. He's a great dog". Here is Jesse relaxing on the bed.

This is Barney Fife (below). He was found huddled under a car in the snow trying to get warm. Although timid at first, he is a great lover. He is the king of his new family. Keeping warm is no longer a problem for Barney Fife........

A new photo of Barney Fife arrived in September 2005. He here is on the left below relaxing.
On the right is Barney's friend Jemma, another cat saved and fostered by KAR

Poor Felix (below) arrived in the Rescue with a bullet AND buckshot inside him. In spite of this abuse, he was a really sweet dog. He went to a very loving family who are making up for all the pain he once felt.

When Toby (below) was a tiny puppy, he was left in a snow bank to die. He was very cold when a good Samaritan found him and called us. His foster mom had a hard time giving him up. Toby was adopted to a loving home. He is now the pride of his new family and boy has he grown.

Billy (below) was found during the bitter cold spell in January 2004 trying to keep warm under a porch. Luckily the nice student who lived there called Kalamazoo Animal Rescue and we took him in. Billy found a wonderful home and family. Here he is a year later enjoying the comforts of home!!!
