Become a Volunteer

Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is currently seeking volunteers to foster cats and dogs, help with adoption events, and contribute in other important ways. You can learn more about fostering by clicking here.

If you are interested in applying to become a KAR volunteer, please fill out the application form. We will contact you within 48 hours to discuss the following volunteer opportunities.

Fostering

Temporarily housing rescue animals (cats and dogs).

Cat Care

Meet and care for our office cats, including: socialization, fresh food and water, cleaning cages, and scooping litter boxes.

Screening / Adoption Counselor

Helping to find animals (cats and dogs) the perfect home by screening pet applications.

Web

Maintain, improve, and update the Rescue’s website content, including troubleshooting and technical support.

Fundraising / Fundraising Events

Create, schedule, and manage fundraising efforts for the Rescue.

Marketing / Communications

Internal and external marketing and communications for the Rescue, including e-newsletters, social media publications, and developing marketing strategies for various Rescue events and available animals (cats and dogs).

Grants

Research and write grants to raise monetary funds to support Rescue efforts.

Medical Program

Administer medicine and routine veterinary care, including medicine and vaccinations. Veterinary experience preferred.
